October 21, 2017 - October 22, 2017 - 12:30 pm (B3J 3J6 Halifax Canada)

A two day workshop in the techniques and traditions of making glass beads with a torch, with a decidedly DIY flavour. Working with an accredited Master Artisan, students in this class will learn the basic skills of lampworking by working with materials and tools which are purchased, recycled or found. Students will each make dozens of beads which can be used to create a variety of jewelry items. Simple techniques of mounting handmade beads will also be demonstrated. By discussing the types of glass, sources of materials, and choices of design in bead making, the students will be equipped with the information and skills needed to continue to pursue this unique craft at home. Please bring safety glasses, broad-nosed pliers, and notebook to the first class.

Class limit is 8.
