Patrick Watson (Montreal, QC)

After a decade as a band, it really has been an interesting journey for Patrick Watson and his cohorts. The band has performed in front of a full orchestra in 2011 in Amsterdam and again in Watson’s hometown of Montreal in 2013, they also performed two songs in Wim Wenders’s 3D epic Every Thing Will Be Fine, and in 2015 released their most solid record yet, Love Songs For Robots.

The Rural Alberta Advantage (Toronto, ON)

The Rural Alberta Advantage play indie-rock songs about hometowns and heartbreak, born out of images from growing up in Central and Northern Alberta. They sing about summers in the Rockies and winters on the farm, ice breakups in the spring time and the oil boom’s charm, the mine workers on compressed, the equally depressed, the city’s slow growth and the country’s wild rose, but mostly the songs just try to embrace the advantage of growing up in Alberta.

Yukon Blonde (Vancouver, BC)

After the last show of their final European Tour, in support of their 2015 Album, ‘On Blonde,’ Yukon Blonde were not ready to come home to Canada – So they didn’t. Instead, frontman Jeff Innes relocated to Madrid, Spain; to be joined sporadically by his bandmates over the following months. “Crazy” and “Emotional Blackmail” are the first songs to be released from this period.

Dance Movie (Halifax, NS)

Dance Movie is a rock band from Halifax. Its new record Pierce was produced by John Goodmanson (Sleater-Kinney, Cloud Nothings, Los Campesinos!) and contains 11 dynamic songs about love (but not love songs). Hearts out.
